COIM Group is an Italian company that has been developing and producing chemical specialties since 1962. With over 50 years of operation, it has become a global entity, leading in the production of polyesters, polyols, polyurethanes, and special resins for composite materials and coatings. The company combines a global approach with local attention to meet diverse application needs across five continents.
Company History:
COIM's journey began in 1962 with the collaboration of Mario Buzzella and Cesare Zocchi. They started with the production of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (KETANOX) and rapidly expanded to cover a significant market share in Italy. Key developments include:
1964: Launch of monomeric plasticizers (PLAXTER) for cellulose.
1966: Partnership with Nouri & Van der Lande (now Akzo) and expansion into unsaturated polyesters (EXTER S) and alkyd resins (GLICEXTER).
1979: Collaboration with Novotex, leading to polyurethane production for synthetic leathers (LARITHANE).
1990s: Introduction of new products like binders for fiberglass (FILCO), aromatic polyesters and polyurethanes for insulation panels (ISOEXTER), and water-based polyurethane dispersions (HYDROLAR).
Late 1990s-2012: International expansion to Brazil, Singapore, USA, and India, focusing on polyurethanes and polyesters.
2013-2017: Strengthening presence in Europe with COIM East Europe (Moscow) and COIM Turkey (Istanbul), and expanding into the liquid printing inks sector with the acquisition of Darwinks, as well as establishing Coim China.
